QWhat's better the Kindle Fire HD or Galaxy Tab 2 7.0?
So I'm thinking of buying a tablet for Christmas but I can not decide between the Kindle Fire HD or Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 , what is better to play and like taking pictures and skyping ? And also just in general ?
Hate to disagree... the Kindle fire is NOT an ereader.
It is a tablet that has been highly customized to focus on media consumption. Nobody would buy this as an ereader. Real ereader are much lighter and not lcd.
The sammy has more functionality due to cameras, more open android system etc... As noted in the other comment- can't skype on the fire.
You missed the right question though... which is better, the sammy or the nexus 7.
The only thing the galaxy has over the nexus 7 is micro SD slot, and a higher res camera. If you are skypeing, the nexus is fine, if you want to take pics- the galaxy has a 3mp camera- but seriously.... why take pictures with a camera? your phone has much higher res. You see how silly people look when trying to video or take pics with a tablet?
The kindle, not to be dismissed, has mimo. It will have the fastest wifi connectivity.
Personally, I would chose the nexus. It has vanilla android. AS it is the google tab, it will have universal compatibility with apps on the play store. It is also a great value.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2
- Lightweight slim tablet
- Excellent speed with dual core 1GHz processor to run latest application with no problem
- Excellent device to watch HD videos on YouTube and Netflix
- Smooth screen transition and snappy response
- Great browsing and gaming experience
- Flash is enabled
I don't agree with the answer as well, the one saying Kindle Fire is an e-reader. Amazon Kindle comes with different models, they have ereader models like Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Keyboard, etc. There's tablet model, which are Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD, and they are both full function tablet. The Kindle Fire HD does have a HD front-facing camera, you can use it to take pictures via some apps, and it's great for skype.
So let's compare the three tablets: Galaxy Tab 2, Kindle Fire HD, and Nexus 7.
Strength of Kindle Fire HD:
- Better screen resolution (1280 x 800 pixels, same as Nexus 7, better than 1024 x 600 on Galaxy Tab)
- Best speaker (dolby audio speaker, the other two tablets only has mono speaker)
- HDMI output (not on the other two)
- Dual antennas (for faster and more stable WiFi)
Strength of Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" (not found on the other two tablets):
- Rear-facing cameras
- SD card slot
Strength of Nexus 7 (not found on the other two tablets):
- Quad core processor
- NFC support
- Built-in with latest Android system
There's a very good review here on choosing between the Kindle Fire HD and the Nexus 7 or other tablets:
My choice is the Kindle, as the speaker and HDMI output make it the best tablet for watching video, music, playing games, etc.
